Everything you need to know about Tennis Court Resurfacing

Is your club, council or private tennis court looking worse for wear? Do you find that after it rains, water is pooling in sections on the tennis court surface?

If so, then it could be time to resurface your tennis courts.

Artificial or synthetic grass tennis court surfaces should generally last between 10-15 years in a commercial tennis environment, and approximately 20 years in a residential application, providing the right care and maintenance are instilled.

It is a good indication that you should resurface your tennis courts when you start to see the stitching rows in the high wear areas – around the baseline or when the seams start to let go.

How is tennis court resurfacing done?

The process for removing the artificial or synthetic grass court can be performed either by hand, or by using a bobcat or dingo, and then placed into skip bins. This process will generally take our team 1 day to complete.

Next, a thorough inspection of the existing base is completed, to identify if any repairs are required. After any patching, we will then install the new artificial grass court in a site specific kit format. The specifically sourced kiln dried sand is then applied and groomed ready for play. The installation of the synthetic turf will take our team 1 day, so we recommend allowing 2-5 days for the completion of each project depending on the extent of any base repairs needed.

What is the general cost for resurfacing tennis courts?

Cost for the installation will vary depending on site access, what base rectification is required, and product chosen – however, a budget of around $25k-$35k +GST should be considered.
