The project involved carefully removing the existing synthetic turf and assessing the base for drainage and structural integrity. A detailed inspection, including the use of a camera provided by the club, helped determine if additional drainage improvements were needed. Where possible, the existing base was reused, levelled, and compacted to create a stable foundation. Up to 20 tonnes of river sand was added to refine the surface profile, ensuring it met World Bowls standards.
Once the base was prepared, a high-quality Australian-made GreenMaster Pro synthetic turf was installed. Sand infill was applied to enhance durability and stability, followed by thorough grooming to ensure a smooth and consistent playing surface. The entire process was carried out with minimal disruption to the club, ensuring the green was ready for years of top-level play.
“I had the pleasure of performing the initial polishing of the newly completed GreenMaster Pro Synthetic Bowling Green at Padstow Bowling Club by Synthetic Sports Group. I have to say, the attention to detail to the levels and first-class installation meant this Green required minimal rolling and grooming to get up to pennant speed and performance”
